2017 Toys for Tots Program
The Saipan Young Professionals (SYP) committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce was able to collect thousands of Christmas toys in the year 2017 under the Toys for Tots Program. Over 35 local businesses hosted drop off locations, and hundreds of volunteers around the island came together to bring Christmas joy to the community.
"I was impressed by the SYP's drive from the very start. This is the first time for the Marine Corps Toys 4 Tots program on Saipan. The SYP's creativity, hard work and dedication made it a resounding success" said Major Timothy Patrick.
By the end of the Toys 4 Tots campaign season, the SYP had doubled its initial goal of the number of toys it hoped to gather in the 2017 holiday season. The toys were delivered to Karidat, Salvation Army, and Maternal Health Care Bureau who distributed these Christmas toys on December 19th, 2017 to those in need in their carious programs on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
“We are humbled by the support of our community and look forward to repeating the program in 2018. It is such a rewarding feeling to be able to provide our island’s children with a little something this Christmas. We want to share and bring this sense of giving with us into the New Year” said SYP Chair, Beau Tomokane (Delta Air Lines).
